CranBlueberry Sauce
This week I’ve decided to add a recipe I modified from on of my husband’s favorite summer dessert dishes – Vanilla ice cream drizzled with warm blueberry sauce. I love to make this recipe using both blueberries and cranberries. The sauce can tend to be slightly more tart so you can always add more sugar to sweeten it.
What are some of your favorite summer treats?
CranBlueberry Sauce
- 1 cup of cranberries
- 1 1/2 cup of blueberries
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup orange juice (or I sometimes use Ocean Spray’s White Cranberry juice)
Warm all the ingredients over heat stirring occasionally

Every Tuesday we will try to post a cranberry inspired recipe. Whether you’re from a cranberry growing region or not, you might have a recipe or two stashed away in your pantry. If so, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at revs_al@cranmoms.com so we can share your recipe and story on our blog.

while i’m thinking of it… one of my favorite cranberry recipes is “easy cranberry cornmeal oat muffins” from cranberry cooking for all season by nancy cappelloni. i just made some… ada loves them for breakfast!
those sound yummy!!
This looks super tasty! Perfect for ice cream or to mix in with your yogurt. I made a slightly different version since I’m on a “sugar free” diet. Instead I substituted maple sugar for the sugar and used 1/4 cup of unsweetened cherry juice instead of the cranberry juice. I have tried using unsweetened cranberry juice but do think it makes the sauce way too tart.
